About Us
The Scottish Gift supports Highland Titles managed by the Scottish Highlands company, with the mission to fund the creation of multiple nature reserves throughout Scotland by selling the most engaging Scottish Gift in the World.
We take huge pride in this mission, as do our customers. Tens of thousands of Lairds, Lords and Ladies have visited the nature reserves in Glencoe Wood, Lochaber Mountainview and Kilnaish, all of whom have strengthened their emotional ties with Scotland, U.K.
The Scottish Gift company engages with its customers. By the way: Highland Titles was founded in 2006 by Dr. Peter Bevis, a fellow of the Zoological Society of London, and his daughter, Laura. They started by selling plots from the family's land in order to fund additional tree planting. The mission was simply to restore land that had been devastated by centuries of farming and unsympathetic commercial forestry.
Glencoe Wood Nature Reserve
The nature reserve at Glencoe Wood was acquired in 2007. It consisted of 250 acres that had long been used for commercial forestry and hill farming. This became the focus of an ambitious long-term project to transform the land into a nature reserve.
Key objectives:
- To help preserve and encourage protection of flora and fauna in the West Highland area, Scotland
- To offer an amenity to the local community
- To provide an education medium for local schools and organisations
The plans were laid out in full in their first Five-Year Plan, published in 2008. This document reviews their performance against the original goals they set out for conserving the nature reserve in Glencoe Wood.
Lochaber Mountainview Nature Reserve
In 2014, the company was able to purchase a second plot of land approximately 10 miles West of Invergarry, called Lochaber Mountainview Bumblebee Haven.
As with so much of the Highlands, this 200 acre site had been used for commercial forestry and planted mainly with non-native Sitka Spruce.
Highland Titles eventually hope to create multiple havens for wildlife at this site and shortly after the purchase of this land in 2014, they created Bumblebee Haven, an area protected against deer with a fence, which with the help of the Bumblebee Trust and Trees for Life, they hope to enrich with a variety of flowering plants and trees.
As Highland Titles work to remove the non-native trees that provide little food or protection for the local wildlife, we have been planting several areas of more suitable habitat and endeavour to plant wild flowers to provide nectar and pollen for the bees that now make their home there.
In 2015 the Trust gifted 10 acres of land to Wildcat Haven who are working to protect the last few genetically pure Scottish Wildcats to save them from extinction.
Plots of land were sold here between 2014 and 19/10/2021
Kilnaish Estate Nature Reserve
In 2021, Highland Titles bought the Kilnaish Estate, which is 300 acres of land near Tarbert on the West Coast of Scotland. Kilnaish has obtained SSSI and SAC (Special Area of Conservation) status, and is a mixture of amenity woodland and hill ground.
The estate features the Cnoc a Bharra Leathain hill with stunning views towards the Isle of Gigha and an attractive 2 acre lochan known as Loch Cill An Aonghais, which is known as a key palynological site. Tarbert is known as the gateway to the Kintyre Peninsula and is well worth a visit.
All new 1, 5, 10 and 100 square foot plots of land are sold from here.
